Who I work with:

Technically I work with individuals 12+, but my jam is teens, young adults, and mom's. I love working with anxiety and depression and how it shows up across these phases.

Work With Teens:

Teenage years can be rough on parents and teens alike. It's not uncommon for adolescents to feel out of place, depressed, irritable and/or anxious. Parents and teens may struggle to communicate. Even though teens love to say things are "fine," most of the time they aren't. Middle school and high school can wear on self esteem and confidence and the reality is most teens don't want to talk to their parents about their personal lives.

I'm someone who is not their parent, their friend, their teacher. I have no judgement on what they say or choices they've made. Let's face it, being a teenager can suck and it's nice to have someone on your side but not in the drama.

I help teens develop skills to express themselves in ways that can be heard. Instead of living with a muddle of emotions, teens who work with me learn to articulate feelings and needs in a way that empowers them as young adults. We work on skills to reduce anxiety, move through depression, and improve communication with parents and peers.

Adolescents over the age of 13 are treated as adults in Washington in terms of confidentiality. It is up to the adolescent to determine what information (if any) will be shared with parents. I always cover this in the first session, but please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

College Students & Young Adults:

So SO much going on in this phase of life that I love working with. The challenges of college or figuring out wtf am I doing and which direction am I headed. Independence overlapped with parental expectation, figuring out who you are and what you want. Finding your own voice and the pressure of feeling like you're supposed to have it all figured out.

I help young adults sort out those questions of who am I and what do I want? I teach skills for working through anxiety and stress, to help you feel grounded in yourself and your path. If you've got friend or relationship drama, or are struggling with making friends, we work on that too.

Moms:

Mom's carry an enormous mental load. For my clients this typically shows up as feeling overwhelmed, anxious, irritable...drowning. And then feeling sh***y because you feel like you don't like your kid, think you are doing a bad job, or just not being the person/mom/partner you want to be. Because I have a strong background in child therapy and a ton of insight into teens, I draw on this to help support your communication and relationship with your family. And, it's also space to focus on you. What do you need, what do you need to communicate? And, practical skills and tools for working through anxiety and overwhelm. I'd love to support you in this cross section of motherhood and life.

EMDR:

I am an EMDRIA certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist.  EMDR is a therapy originally developed for the treatment of traumatic memories and is now used for a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, traumatic or significant events, fears, and PTSD.

I often integrate EMDR in my work with teens and adults. I am still in awe in how it helps process painful emotions and memories in a rapid fashion.
